This is a great opportunity to offer money to communities across the UK, giving them the opportunity to help others.
Who are Soft Touch Arts?
Soft Touch Arts are an award winning Leicester-based charity. They use arts, media and music activities to make positive life changes for disadvantaged young people. Soft Touch Arts help to support young people to develop creative, social and employability skills. For young people who lack opportunities or have challenges in their lives, it can be hard to look forward to a positive future. The projects designed by Soft Touch Arts help young people get back on track, build the confidence and resilience to change negative or risky behaviours, and progress to lead more fulfilling lives.
Soft Touch Arts believe creativity gives young people more positive choices in their lives.
What would mean to Soft Touch Arts to win this funding?
Soft Touch have recently started a creative enterprise programme helping vulnerable but talented young people to make and sell art and craft items.
“We are in desperate need of new equipment and funds for our ‘Make Room’ a space that can help young people in need achieve their goals and develop their skills. If we get this funding it will help us to give 50 young people each year the opportunity to work with local artists and business coaches, to use great equipment to create their work and to undertake commissions for local businesses. It will give them transferrable work and employment skills and build their confidence and self-belief.”
This funding will help Soft Touch to raise their profile and allow the charity to showcase the fantastic talents of the young people they work with.
“Our work stops young people who are vulnerable getting into difficult or negative life situations and improving our facilities will help us to do more of this work with more young people in need.”
With 35,000 young people living in poverty in Leicester – there’s never been more demand and need for the work of Soft Touch Arts. The funding will help them to continue and grow their work and improve the lives of more young people and help to design a great space.
