Property – Cold Weather Precautions

Gavin Dickson – Professions Team Leader

Depending on where you are in the country, some extreme cold temperatures have either already arrived or are forecast to arrive very shortly.

Such cold weather can have an impact on heating systems and power supplies at your property, in addition to more obvious risks such as ice, snow and flooding.

BHIB have made available a couple of useful documents which can help you to prepare for such issues:

  • Firstly, a checklist to assist you in checking your heating and power supplies along with some practical guidance
  • Secondly, a useful document relating to ice and snow which includes some risk management guidance, in particular around who is responsible for clearance etc

If you are a BHIB client and have any queries about this then please do not hesitate to contact us and we can put you in touch with our Risk Manager, Brian Brookes, who will endeavour to answer any specific questions.

    Gavin Dickson Professions Team Leader

Now in his 21st year in the insurance industry, Gavin is one of BHIB’s most experienced brokers.

Prior to joining us in 2012, his career has seen him work for some of the largest insurers and brokers in the UK and he has used this experience to develop as a specialist within the Professional Business and Property sectors.

Away from the office Gavin is a Leicester City season ticket holder and also a keen traveller.  A couple of years ago he took the opportunity to combine these passions and travel abroad to watch Leicester play in the Champions League.  By his own admission, it may be a very long time before he is able to do this again!
